Earthquake Hits Kachchh, Gujarat: 4.4 Magnitude Tremors Felt Early Morning



 On the morning of 26 December 2025, a noticeable earthquake was felt in the Kachchh district of Gujarat, a well-known state of India. The earthquake was recorded with a magnitude of 4.4. The tremors were strong enough that many people woke up from their sleep, and out of fear, some residents came out of their homes.


The earthquake occurred at approximately 4:30 AM (IST), a time when most people were asleep. The epicenter was located in the Kachchh region, and the depth of the quake was reported to be around 10 kilometers underground. Due to this shallow depth, the tremors were clearly felt despite the moderate intensity.


Current Situation

According to initial reports, no loss of life or major property damage has been reported so far. Local administration and disaster management teams immediately began assessing the affected areas. Officials have stated that the situation is fully under control and there is no need for public panic.

In some areas, residents reported that ceiling fans and household items started shaking, and the ground trembled for a few seconds. Many social media users also mentioned feeling the tremors, but no confirmation of serious damage has emerged.

It is important to note that the Kachchh district falls under Seismic Zone 5, which is considered one of the most earthquake-prone zones in India. The region has experienced several minor and moderate earthquakes in the past.

If we look at history, the 2001 Bhuj earthquake also struck this same region and proved to be extremely devastating. This is why whenever an earthquake occurs in Kachchh or Gujarat, fear naturally spreads among the public.
